About CenterPoint Energy
Millions of customers rely on us for their energy needs

CenterPoint Energy, Inc., headquartered in Houston, is a domestic energy delivery company that includes electric transmission & distribution, natural gas distribution and competitive natural gas sales and services operations (which manages TrueCost). The company also owns a 58.3 percent limited partner interest in Enable Midstream Partners, a midstream partnership it jointly controls with OGE Energy Corp.

CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, is an electric transmission and distribution utility – also known as a TDU. It doesn’t produce electricity or sell it and hasn’t for more than 10 years. Instead, it maintains the power lines, poles, meters, transformers, substations and other infrastructure needed to safely and reliably deliver electricity to homes and businesses in greater Houston. This business is also responsible for fixing damage to power lines done by storms or accidents. There is only one TDU in a service territory and it must provide the same reliable service to everyone in its service territory, regardless of which retail electric provider supplies their electricity.

The natural gas distribution utility sells and delivers gas to about one million Houston-area residents and businesses, as well as customers in other parts of Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Minnesota.

CenterPoint Intelligent Energy Solutions LLC, IES, which manages TrueCost, is not the same legal entity as CenterPoint Energy Resources Corp. (CERC) or CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric, LLC (CEHE), nor is IES regulated by the Railroad Commission of Texas or the Public Utility Commission of Texas. You do not have to buy products or services from IES in order to continue to receive quality regulated services from CERC or CEHE.
