One-Year Fixed Rate Plans
AEP North Service Area

Low natural gas prices contributed to the relatively stable cost of one-year plans in 2011 and 2012.  But, with natural gas prices increasing from the late months of 2012 all the way into summer in 2013, one-year electric plans saw a larger than usual increase in price during the first half of 2013.  This pattern is once again evident in 2014, with prices on a steady incline, due to the upward natural gas trend.  Only time will tell as to what effect this will have on one-year plans as the year continues.

This chart shows the average price for a one-year fixed-rate plan (excluding 100 percent green energy plans).
Average monthly costs as shown are based on a customer who uses 12,000 kilowatt-hours per year. See "About the Index" in the right column to learn more about how the Index is calculated.
