Here’s a list of common fees, taxes and pass-through charges that can help you better understand your electric bill.
A fee charged to a customer by a Retail Electric Provider (REP) if the contracted rate plan is terminated by the customer prior to its ending date.
The portion of a monthly electric bill based on the total consumption of power used multiplied by the cost per kilowatt hour (kWh) during a billing period.
(May also be called: Energy Rate or Energy Price)
A surcharge assessed to recover costs associated with energy efficiency programs that have been approved by the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT). This amount is charged in addition to the standard TDU fee, but it may be bundled into a single line with all other Transmission and Distribution Utility (TDU) charges on the bill. If itemized separately, this surcharge may show up as "EEC," "Energy Efficiency," or even combined with the Advanced Metering System (AMS) charge.
