TrueCost saves people 20 percent on their electricity
How do we know? They told us!

Posted by Shane McLaughlin on 04/24/2013 at 8:36 PM

TrueCost is all about using data to help people save money on electricity. That involves a mix of data from your meter, data from the providers about plan costs and fees, and data from you about what plan characteristics are important to you.

We asked our customers how much they're saving on their electric rates; here's a sampling of some of the results:

On average, customers who switched electric plans using TrueCost report saving more than 20 percent on their electric rates.

That's an astounding number to us. For an "average" Houston resident, that can be hundreds of dollars per year in lower electricity bills.

How did people save so much? We know what they signed up for on TrueCost, but we asked them what they had before.

Seventeen percent of customers were paying at least $0.13/kWh, and just over half were paying $0.11 or more!

what was your electric rate before switching on TrueCost

More than half (55 percent) of the customers who switched using TrueCost told us they had previously been with large electric companies.

Finally, we asked people how satisfied they were with their savings on their new plan. More than 93 percent are satisfied with the savings, and the majority of those said they are "extremely satisfied."
