What's my ESID?
Use our convenient lookup tool

Posted by Shane McLaughlin on 06/05/2013 at 1:03 PM

What's an ESID (aka ESI ID, ESIID, and pronounced "easy-ID" by people in the electric industry)?

It's a unique identifying number for where you receive electric service. It's used by electric companies, by your utility, and by ERCOT to identify your premise (usually a meter). Sometimes it's not even a meter: street lights and non-metered services can also have ESIDs. ESIDs for the CenterPoint electric territory are 22 digits and usually start with 100890.

When you register for myTrueCost.com, you select your address and can give us permission to import your smart meter data. We search the ESID for you and use it when requesting data or helping you switch plans.

Now, anyone can lookup up their ESID by address using our new public lookup page.
