Comments: Extremely poor customer support, Smart mouth employees (if you can reach one by phone) unwilling to help with a take it or leave it attitude. Does not post rates with true cost so you can't compare. Not sure how I got hooked up with these folks but sure looking for a way to get out after years of service with them. Not senior citizen friendly!

Comments: We currently have Reliant's Secure Advantage 12 Plan with Balanced Billing. This was the plan Reliant selected for us after we complained about unusual and abnormal usage/charges we believe came only after and because of the smart meter install. While Reliant had discovered an incorrect rate had been charged and there had been problems with their balanced billing system, they stuck by their position that we were just using more, even though we have lived here 35 years with no lifestyle changes and having added improved energy rated appliances. We have had Balanced Billing for a long time and currently have a Deferred Balance of $920. The Trane system is 13 years old. We have now had an audit, taped and resealed all ducts, replaced the HVAC fan capacitors, and embarked on a more intense energy saving program. Just this month Reliant has increased our monthly charge from the complaint adjusted $234 to the new unexplained/unjustified $324.

Comments: Reliant rates are some of the best quoted. They have a great website and allow for daily updates through email and text of usage. It's through this type of awareness that I was able to show my apartment manager that my A/C unit was double the usage in billing compared to my neighbors that the manager agreed to change out the A/C Unit and now my usage has returned to normal. Through Reliant I requested 13 months of data usage to provide this information to the apartment manager that they had a defective A/C unit even though the unit was partially cooling the kilowatt hour usage was beyond normal. Of history was the constant turn over in tenants for the apartment that I'm now leasing. Apartment managers should have access to smart meter banks of meter data so they also can monitor usage. Most tenants don't manage or monitor usage but through Reliant Energy web portal it's easy to view your data and monitor. It has saved me from high bills for this summer by getting this A/C unit replaced. Thank you Reliant employees for going the distance to serve your customers. Paul F. Flower, Katy TX

Comments: I have Reliant for a couple of years now and I haven't had any major issues with them. The only thing that really bugs me is how high my bill goes in the winter months. Seems like in Houston my winter bills shouldn't be twice what my summer bills are but somehow it is. I've called them to inquire and they told me to stop turning off my heat during the day while at work; so I did but didn't make any difference.

Comments: I have been a loyal customer of Reliant for over 20 years. They are unwilling to work with us on lower rates so I am going to be forced to do what everyone else does and leave them and shop around on a routine basis for the cheapest solution. It's too bad there are not loyalty programs in place to reward long time customers.

Comments: Reliant provides efficient billing service. I have not yet, in over 30 years, had a billing problem with them. I wish their rates were a little more competitive and would be compared on Center Point's True Cost sight, but they may be electing not to pay the cost to advertise here. I have been fully satisfied otherwise.
