Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Giving you insight into the expertise behind TrueCost

I entered the meter number from my bill. Why did TrueCost tell me it was wrong?

The meter number you found could have been from an old bill.
Many meters have been replaced as part of the smart meter upgrade. The new smart meters' numbers start with a 5, 6, 8, or a 9.  If you have an older bill, it may still show the number from your old meter. You can always find the current number by looking at your physical meter. See the "Getting Started" chapter in our Guided Tour to see where to find the number on your meter.

The meter numbers on bills may also start with the capital letter "I," which on some bills this looks like the number 1.  TrueCost only needs the numbers, not the letter.
